This tour is designed with the nature lover and walking
enthusiast in mind and involves three days in the secluded
Okahu valley of the Whirinaki rainforest.
Two
overnight stays are provided in our exclusive safari-style tented
accommodation at the Robert Collins Nature Camp, deep in the heart
of the rainforest. Facilities include flush toilets and hot
showers!
The walks are between eight kilometres and 14.9
kilometres per day in duration, graded easy to moderate, but a good
level of fitness is required.
This is the
ultimate multi-day wilderness experience in the North Island
of Aotearoa New Zealand and includes all meals and
professional guiding.
All that’s required are your own
clothing and personal effects, a good sense of humour and a
willingness to enjoy the untouched and unspoiled nature of
this beautiful hidden little valley.

Helicopter fly-in option

For those who have never experienced a helicopter flight - and
even for those who have - the journey over the Whirinaki
rainforest to our own heli-pad at the Robert Collins Nature
Camp is spectacular.
For as far as the eye can see - to east,
west, north and south - native forest dominates the
landscape.
There’s no sign of civilisation.
These scenic
flights are offered for those who seek an exhilerating entry to this
magnificent rainforest, but minimum numbers (or Dollar
equivalent) apply. They must also be booked at the time of
making a reservation for the 3-day walk as prior arrangements must
be made with our charter operator, located nearby.
